Nellie Mae Education Foundation Speakers Bureau

The Nellie Mae Speakers Bureau is a respected group of education, youth, and community leaders who are advancing racial equity in public education who amplify their work, voices, and advocacy in the media.

Meet the speakers

At Nelle Mae Education Foundation, we prioritize community goals that challenge racial inequities and advance excellent, student-centered public education for all New England youth.

For too long, the people who have experienced the worst injustices in public education have been systematically left out of the decision-making process.

The Nellie Mae Speakers Bureau seeks to amplify these voices by mobilizing students, parents, community advocates, and educators to share their stories about how they are leading work to change the system for the better.

We encourage you to join our efforts by inviting one of these individuals to speak to your group.

About the Speakers Bureau

The Nellie Mae Speakers Bureau is a respected group of New England education experts who are leading work to advance racial equity in public schools. The Bureau includes youth and community organizers, educators, parents, and advocates who offer a unique variety of perspectives on equity, community and youth voice, student-centered learning and more.

The young people and families who have experienced the worst injustices in public education — as well as the community organizations that serve them – have been denied the opportunity to exercise power to change the system for the better. The Nellie Mae Speakers Bureau seeks to amplify the voices of those leading the efforts to dismantle structural racism in our education systems.

Learn how young people have campaigned for a more culturally relevant curriculum and civics studies in their education. Hear from parents who are working with families to insert their voices into school and district decision-making. See how a flipped classroom promotes ownership over student learning, and how district and community partnerships can create internship and extracurricular opportunities for students.

Improving racial equity in public education requires the collaboration of educators, families, communities and students to prepare all young people for successful futures. The Nellie Mae Speakers Bureau is for all audiences interested in championing efforts that challenge racial inequities and advance excellent, student-centered public education. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to hear more from these leaders.

About the Nellie Mae Education Foundation

Since 1990, the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, New England’s largest public charity focused solely on education, has worked to help our region prosper by preparing all of its learners for success. Intentionally examining our work and our impact through the lens of racial equity, we realized that if we truly wanted to prepare all of New England’s young people to succeed, we needed to focus on where the need and opportunity gaps were. Today, our organization works to dismantle the systemic racial inequities that exist in our public education system.
