Dr. John H. Jackson is President and CEO of The Schott Foundation for Public Education, where he leads the Foundation’s efforts to ensure a high-quality public education for all students regardless of race or gender.

Previously, Dr. Jackson served as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s (NAACP) Chief Policy Officer and prior to that as the NAACP’s National Director of Education. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Race, Gender, and Public Policy at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute, and as President Clinton’s Senior Policy Advisor in the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the U.S. Department of Education. Dr. Jackson also served on the Obama-Biden transition team as a member of the President’s 13-member Education Policy Transition Work Group.

Dr. Jackson holds a B.A. in Political Science from the Xavier University of Louisiana; an M.Ed. in Education Policy from the University of Illinois’ College of Education; a J.D. from the University of Illinois’ College of Law; and an M.Ed. and Ed.D. in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

For the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, Dr. Jackson serves on the Equity and Governance committees.
