Learning Happens anytime, anywhere

Learning takes place beyond the traditional school day, and even the school year. The school’s walls are permeable--learning is not restricted to the classroom.

Examples of flexible learning environments include:

Science Leadership Academy

This Philadelphia high school partners with local businesses and organizations to provide students with internships to help them prepare for future careers. In addition, students participate in weekly visits to the city’s science museum, where they participate in mini-courses related to museum exhibits.

West Generation Academy

At this Colorado high school, the city becomes the classroom. Students visit organizations and businesses for courses such as “I Robot Digital Era Careers—Technology as a Backbone for 21st Century Society.”

High Tech High

At High Tech High, students engage in shadowing, internship and project-based opportunities based on grade level, allowing them to apply learned material to real-world situations.
